EIA
Environmental Impact Assessment
The full EIA process evaluates the potential environmental impacts of proposed developments or activities before authorisation is granted by a competent authority. Required under NEMA for projects triggering listed activities with significant potential impacts.
A simplified form of environmental assessment for projects triggering NEMA listed activities where impacts are expected to be manageable. Faster turnaround than a full EIA but equally formal and legally required. TND prepares all technical components, public participation documentation, and authority submissions.
A legally binding document developed alongside EIAs and BARs, forming a condition of Environmental Authorisation. Defines how an approved project will be managed environmentally throughout construction and operational phases.
Prepared under the National Water Act and submitted to the Department of Water and Sanitation. Required where projects involve abstraction from a water resource, alteration of a watercourse, or activities impacting wetlands.
